David was born in 1956. He studied Art History and Fine Art at the University of East Anglia, and has pursued Art and Design throughout his life.
From Cornwall to the North Yorkshire Moors, his work is inspired by landscape and nature; changing weather, light and atmosphere. A practise centred around the Japanese tea bowl and the culture of Wabi Sabi. The tea bowl ceremony expresses the beauty of the impermanence and transience of nature and it’s elemental forces. Hand building techniques and the Raku process allow the elements of clay, glaze and fire to speak in an organic and expressive manner… a balance of expression and restraint.
