I trained under some of the leading figures of British abstract painting, and in my twenties my practice was rooted in a commitment to pure abstraction. These new works return to and re-examine ideas that first emerged during that formative period, revisiting them with the distance and perspective of a lifetime.

In the context of today’s world—shaped by artificial intelligence, global instability, and the relentless immediacy of 24-hour news—these explorations take on a renewed urgency. What once felt intuitive now feels prescient; the language of abstraction becomes a way to process, resist, and reframe the complexities of contemporary experience.
