About Neville Paine

Neville Paine’s work sits beautifully between abstraction and figuration, with compositions that reward both an immediate response and closer looking.

Colour, form and subtle symbolic details are carefully balanced throughout his paintings, creating work that can feel harmonious and unsettled at the same time. There is a strong sense of structure, but also of disruption and reconstruction.

His influences range from the quiet, contemplative qualities of Rothko to the more narrative and expressive language of Goya. What draws us to Paine’s work is this ability to move between atmosphere, symbolism and abstraction while retaining a strong and distinctive visual identity.
